Southern Stars is open weekdays from 8:00am till 5:30pm.
For a detailed session breakdown see below.
Sessions
We are an 'all day' early learning centre, but we also have some structure to our day.
Morning 8:00am - 12:00pm
In the morning the children are welcomed and settled, you will see lots of smiles and laughter as friends greet each other, there is a buzz in the air about what the day has to offer! Parents are able to stop and chat to teachers, filling each other in on what has been happening at home, and what exciting learning is unfolding at Southern Stars.
Around mid morning, after a quick tidy up, our whanau get together for mat time . We sing, we dance, we tell stories, then we say a special karakia to say thank you for the delicious morning tea we are about to eat. We sit together at the kai table with our friends as we nourish our bodies with fresh fruit and sometimes baking we have done with the teachers.
It is now time to play again, let the adventures begin!
Afternoon 12:00pm - 5:00pm
Mat time at mid day gathers our whanau together before we sit for lunch, this is a time where children and teachers share stories about their days, ask questions, friendships are made and a great social time is had by all.
After lunch we spend some time calming our bodies and minds with activities such as yoga, pilates, breathing exercises and brain gym. Then it is time to play.
Afternoon tea is scheduled for 2.30pm, we either sit outside at our picnic tables, under the shade of the trees and umbrellas, or on winter days we are inside at the kai tables.
More time to play and explore until home time.

Such a great adventure! So blessed to live somewhere where you can do this, and that Southern Stars allows such awesome activities.
